Description
This specification does not deal with the Test&Motion software in general but with the application modules
ME_10, ME_13 and ME_14 Pre-cracking, da/dN, KIC, JIC, CTOD in particular.
Hence it is recommended to read the Test&Motion in order to get familiar with the software.
Please follow the demands and safety hints listed in the manual!
Please Note: ME14 includes ME10 and ME13.
In recent years, the study of crack propagation and fracture toughness has gained increasing importance. The ME_14 Module performs fatigue crack propagation testing and crack growth analysis on homogeneous materials. It automates the creation of an initial crack (pre-cracking), applies cyclic loading to pre-cracked notched specimens, and measures crack length as a function of load cycles. The crack growth rate (da/dN) is then calculated. Finally, KIC, CTOD, or JIC tests can be conducted to determine the fracture toughness of the material.
